Yes. Some of our networks have no encryption, which enables faster connectivity with less hassle. To provide security in this scenario, we disallow the ability to see other clients on the network. This is called "client isolation" and it prevents your neighbor from seeing your computer. Also, our gateway security device filters for malicious websites, malware and viruses, so you don't have to worry about it.
No. Unfortunately the security features of the network do not allow one device to "talk to" another. This is for every resident's protection. This means devices such as network wireless printers will not work.
Network speed can be different depending on your wireless signal strength, how much downloading is happening at the moment or even malfunctioning equipment (ours or yours). You can make sure your wireless signal is the best possible by checking the power settings on your laptop/computer. You can see how to set your wireless card to "maximum performance" here. If this doesn't help your situation, please contact support and we can take a look at what might be causing issues.
If your connection seems intermittent, try increasing the signal power on your device to the highest power setting. If you have Windows operating system you can try this. You can also try moving to another location in the apartment in order to increase the signal. The best reception is usually near the door closest to a hallway. If the signal is too low to connect or is not reliable, a technician will need to be sent to check the situation, please contact support so we can assist you.
